The International Hellenic University in collaboration with University of Cyprus are delighted to announce a conference on "The Energy Charter and Dispute Resolution Mechanisms" to be held on October 4th, 2024, in the vibrant city of Thessaloniki, Greece. This conference aims to provide a platform for scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and industry experts to explore and discuss critical issues surrounding the Energy Charter and the mechanisms available for resolving disputes arising in the energy sector.
Conference Themes:
We invite submissions of papers on topics including, but not limited to:
- The Energy Charter Treaty (ECT) and its relevance in the contemporary energy landscape.
- Dispute resolution mechanisms under the Energy Charter Treaty.
- Arbitration and mediation in energy disputes. Recent developments and challenges in energy arbitration.
- Investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS) in the energy sector.
- The role of international organizations in facilitating energy dispute resolution.

The conference will feature a keynote speech, panel discussions, and presentations of selected papers. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in fruitful discussions, exchange ideas, and network with peers and experts in the field.

Costs:
There are no fees to participate in this Conference. Participants are, however, responsible for securing their own funding for travel and lodging. A limited amount will be available to partially sponsor selected participants that are in need of financial assistance.
