Our client, a newly established law firm is looking for a high caliber and entrepreneurial young lawyer to join the team.
Position’s Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include advising international clients (including magic circle or US law firms, international and local corporates, financial institutions and private equity houses) on Cyprus law – including, amongst others:
- loan financings and debt capital market transactions (including senior bond issuances);
- mergers and acquisitions (including share acquisitions and business acquisitions);
- joint ventures and shareholder arrangements;
- legal due diligence processes;
- equity financing (private and public);
- corporate restructurings and reorganizations and general corporate law matters;
- contract law support and review of commercial agreements.
Position’s Requirements
- Law degree (2:1 or 1) from reputable university
- LLM or LPC considered an advantage but not required
- Member of Cyprus Bar Association
- 2 to 4 years’ experience post-qualification in transactional law (banking or corporate lawyer)
- Additional experience with / exposure to real estate (and Cyprus land registry), insolvency law, funds or employment considered an advantage
- Good negotiation and communication skills
In addition to the required legal knowledge and legal drafting skills required, the successful candidate should have:
- proficiency in legal research (both UK and Cyprus law – including regulatory matters);
- eagerness to learn and develop in supplementary areas of law and aspects of managing a legal practice;
- effective oral and written communication skills;
- the ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint; and
- fluency in English and Greek;
Commercial awareness
- a financial understanding to understand the legal impact of business decisions;
Business development
- ability to develop positive relationships with clients and to manage client expectations;
CBA / regulatory
- an understanding of CBA and bar association regulatory requirements and code of conduct.
